Meet the Founder

Aimee Van Pelt

My path to becoming a Rapid Transformational Therapy® Practitioner began long before I discovered RTT. It began with my own search to understand why meaningful change can sometimes feel so difficult—and why we can know what we want, yet still find ourselves repeating familiar patterns.

  • Rapid Transformational Coach (RTC®) — certification in progress

Professional Background

Before creating Lumina Within, I spent more than three decades building a career centred on leadership, problem-solving, project management and helping people navigate complex challenges. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree and bring more than 30 years of leadership, relationship-building and public service experience.

These experiences taught me the importance of listening with curiosity, thinking critically, and creating environments where people feel respected, understood and supported. Those same principles now shape the way I work with every client.

My Story

My journey to this work didn’t begin in a classroom. It began many years earlier.

My early years were shaped by instability, uncertainty and experiences no child should have to carry alone. Frequent moves, emotional hardship and the responsibility of caring for a parent struggling with mental illness taught me from a young age to put other people’s needs before my own. Without realizing it, those experiences shaped beliefs I carried into adulthood.

Like many people, I believed that if I could just find the right job, relationship, place or opportunity, life would finally feel different. Yet despite my best efforts, I found myself facing many of the same disappointments, losses and familiar patterns. At one point, I quietly asked myself:

Is this all there is?

I knew I was meant for more. I wanted peace, purpose and possibility, but something seemed to keep getting in the way. Eventually, I stopped asking, “When will my life change?” and started asking:

Why do the same patterns keep repeating?

That question changed the direction of my life. I immersed myself in personal development, self-help books, counselling, mindfulness, meditation and gratitude practices. Each helped me in meaningful ways, but I still felt there was something deeper I didn’t yet understand. Years later, that search led me to Rapid Transformational Therapy®. For the first time, I began to understand that

I wasn’t broken or destined to struggle.

I was living from beliefs formed many years earlier—beliefs that no longer reflected who I was today. RTT gave me a deeper understanding of why I think, feel and respond the way I do, and showed me that understanding those beliefs can create an opportunity for meaningful change.

My journey continues. Life still brings uncertainty, disappointment and unexpected turns. What changed was the way I understood myself. I no longer believe my past has to define my future.

The Inspiration of Kintsugi

Kintsugi is a philosophy that deeply resonates with me. Rather than hiding brokenness, the Japanese art of Kintsugi repairs cracked pottery with gold, honouring its history rather than disguising it. I believe our lives can be much the same. Our experiences—even the painful ones—can become part of our strength, deepening our compassion, resilience and capacity to understand others.

Why I Do This Work

I don’t sit across from clients as someone who has all the answers or who has lived a perfect life.

I sit with them as someone who understands what it feels like to know something needs to change but not know how to create that change. My role isn’t to promise a perfect life. It’s to provide a safe, compassionate, evidence-informed space where we can explore the beliefs and patterns that may be influencing your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and experiences—and work together toward meaningful change.

My Evidence-Informed Approach

I am committed to presenting RTT in an evidence-informed and balanced way. While research supporting clinical hypnosis continues to grow, research evaluating RTT as a distinct therapeutic model is still emerging.
